Metin2 Server Types
Oldschool Servers
Oldschool servers try to recreate the Metin2 from back in the day - low rates, slow leveling, max level usually sits at 105 or 120. Drops are rare, upgrading is expensive and a +9 item actually means something. If you play here, you want that old feeling back. The downside: it takes a lot of time, and if the server dies after a few weeks, all that work was for nothing. Still, Oldschool servers are popular with veterans because they offer the most authentic experience.
Middleschool Servers
Middleschool is the middle ground - rates are moderate (usually 15x to 100x), level cap sits between 120 and 250. You progress faster than Oldschool but there's still plenty to do. Many Middleschool servers add custom dungeons, bosses or quest lines but keep the core of the original Metin2. This is the category most players enjoy because you don't have to grind for weeks but still get that feeling of progression.
Newschool Servers
Newschool means: high rates (100x and up), fast leveling, and tons of custom content. Custom maps, custom items, custom systems that sometimes barely resemble the original Metin2. Max level can be 250 or higher. PvP is usually the main focus - you level up fast and then throw yourself into guild wars or PvP events. Ideal for people who don't have much time and want action right away.
PvP Servers
PvP servers are basically a subcategory of Newschool but even more extreme. You often get full gear right at the start or hit max level in minutes. It's purely about fighting other players. Tournaments, ranking systems and guild wars are the main attraction. These servers live and die by activity - once the community leaves, the server dies fast.
Which type fits you?
That depends on what you're looking for. Want to chill after work and slowly progress? Oldschool or Middleschool. Want a quick round of PvP on the weekend? Newschool or PvP. There's no "better" or "worse" - just different. Try out different servers until you find your type. Use the filters in our toplist to sort by category.
